The projects granted in the fall season of 2023

The fall season grants were (P=Project grants, T=Travel grants):

  1. #P2326_Johan Bandholtz, SEK 30000. The project title is Moving Mapping Graphics, and the project is described as “Moving Mapping Graphics is an experimental fusion of construction, graphics, movement, and programming. It explores how dance and choreography can be translated into graphic patterns through the interaction between mechanical construction, programming and artificial intelligence. Our goal is to facilitate collaboration between dancers, machines and AI and design resulting in graphic patterns that can be integrated into choreographic productions. The partners involved are Ongoing Realities (Johan Bandholtz and Anna Näsström, Sweden) and the Lithuanian duo A EYE Image Synthesis Lab (Vytis Gruzdys and Rapolas Vosylius), as well as a planned collaboration with the Swedish cultural organisation Intercult.

  2. #P2328_Linus Ahlin Sellgren, SEK 20000. The project “Visual interpretations of experimental music” is developed to, together with the Lithuanian experimental musicians Sovijus (Kaunas), Stork Diet and Girnų Giesmės (Vilnius), produce visuals inspired by meeting, seeing and hearing these sound-artists perform; which would in turn result in material that could potentially be used by them as artwork for their releases, merchandise, as some kind of stage scenery etc.

  3. #P2338_Dominykas Vaitiekūnas, SEK 30000. The project is called “Deaf and Hearing Music Project "Not What We Agreed"“, and the project idea is to host SIGN POETRY WORKSHOPS led by Swedish Deaf theatre/poetry specialist Debbie Z Rennie. The grant facilitates four workshops, with participants creating original works translated into sign language literature and set to music. These compositions will embody a "musical translation" of sign language's rhythms and emotions, culminating in a showcase at Kaunas National Drama Theatre. Partners: Debbie Z. Rennie is Swedish citizen who works with the Riksteatern Crea, providing performing arts in Sign Language and with the intention of participating in developing Sign Language art and Sign Language as a stage language.

  4. #P2346_Aistė Ulubey, SEK 30000. Project title: Empowering Refugee Youth through Artistic and Cultural Exchange: A Sweden-Lithuania Collaboration. The idea is to foster the development of bilateral relations between organisations in Sweden and Lithuania by exchanging best practices and methods for empowering refugee youth through art and culture.

  5. #P2354_Aiste Balciunaitiene, SEK 30000. Project title: New antimicrobial material based and plants growing processes. This is a research project within development of new, sustainable materials with strong antimicrobial activity against antibiotic resistant bacteria as well. So, our idea is to create new material with antimicrobial activity based on plant growing process using green metal nanoparticles. Partners: Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Alnarp.

  6. #T2320_Vaidas Gecevičius, SEK 10000. Project: Visiting Arctic Game cluster and participating in Arctic Game Dev Umeå 2023 Event. The idea is to have one representative of the Lithuanian Game Developers Association going to a conference organized by a Swedish counterpart, Arctic Game, in Umeå, a three-day game development conference on November 22-24. The conference will consist of workshops, presentations and showcases, speakers from industry, and discussions in which we are invited to be participants to share Lithuania’s game industry experience. Second purpose is to meet small and bigger Swedish game development companies and establish professional relationships on the basis of cooperation and talent pool.
    Partners: Arctic Game is a games cluster with the objective to create and nurture an ecosystem for the game industry in northern Sweden, connects 70 game companies.

  7. #T2324_RITA JUŠKYTĖ, SEK 25000. Project title: ,,Unique performance”. The project idea is to create international inclusive dance performances with people with disabilities and professionals. Partners in Sweden: Danskompaniet Spinn, a professional dance company based in Gothenburg, Sweden.

  8. #T2321_Antanas Šarkauskas, SEK 8000. Project title “Exploration of Swedish modern wooden architecture”. The project idea: “In a global context, Sweden stands out by demonstrating a strongly developed modern wooden architecture. Lithuania has deep traditions of wooden architecture, however, material has had its share of obstacles, and now wood is only beginning to be used more widely in public buildings. The high use of organic materials in construction is also encouraged by the country's policy. As architects we aim to explore outstanding examples of Swedish modern wooden architecture and improve our professional knowledge. Then apply it in design practice and present theoretical knowledge to professionals and other audiences in Lithuania.

  9. #T2322_Gabrielė Šarkauskienė, SEK 8000. Project title “Exploration of Swedish modern wooden architecture”. The project idea: “In a global context, Sweden stands out by demonstrating a strongly developed modern wooden architecture. Lithuania has deep traditions of wooden architecture, however, material has had its share of obstacles, and now wood is only beginning to be used more widely in public buildings. The high use of organic materials in construction is also encouraged by the country's policy. As architects we aim to explore outstanding examples of Swedish modern wooden architecture and improve our professional knowledge. Then apply it in design practice and present theoretical knowledge to professionals and other audiences in Lithuania.
