Granted applications in the spring of 2023

The granted projects in the spring season were (P=project grant, T=travel grant):

  1. #P2317_Marti Manen, EUR 2500 to a project called “Looking for shared futures”
    Project idea: an exchange between two art institutions in Stockholm and Vilnius about experimentation, learning, working with youth, institutional models and working methods. This approach will open doors for future collaborations between two institutions and will contribute towards developments of learning programming at the Contemporary Art Centre education departments, as well as expansion of Index’s project “Index Teen Advisory Board”. The expected outcomes of the project include the establishment of a long-term dialogue between two institutions in Stockholm and Vilnius, sharing of knowledge, insights and practices.

  2. #P2308_Julija Pociūtė, EUR 2250. The project “Art Exchange - Envisioning New Sustainable Encounters” aims at establishing a network for long term cultural exchange by sharing working methods of Lithuanian and Swedish artists working around sustainability and eco-feminism. It is also important to generate a space for knowledge exchange and collaboration, which could lead to the development of joint exhibitions and programs in both contexts. The plan of this project is to invite three Lithuanian artists/curators working around sustainability and eco-feminism to a peer to peer meeting with artists in Sweden. This encounter would take place at the Art Association Hospitalet (Ateljéföreningen Hospitalet) in Uppsala, Sweden.

  3. #P2323_Ieva Selemenavičiūtė, EUR 2500. The project title is “Re-inspiring traditional craftsmanship for modern times amongst Swedish and Lithuanian youth”. The vision is to create a platform for young aspiring craftsmen with genuine interest in woodworking to meet in person, exchange ideas and inspirations, have an opportunity to set up collaborations and projects and learn/deepen techniques of the long standing heritage of the Swedish and Lithuanian wood working traditions.

  4. #P2307/1_Neda Nordin, EUR 2500 for a project called "Innovation Bridge between Lithuania and Sweden". The project seeks to strengthen the collaboration between Lithuania and Sweden, primarily in four priority innovation sectors, namely IT, life science, engineering, and smart natural food, by building ‘bridges’ of better information and improved trust between the two countries.

  5. #P2315_Ruta Lukosiunaite, EUR 2500. Project title: “Reemergent urban food systems”. The idea is to establish different levels of connections between South of Sweden cities (Malmo and Lund) and Lithuanian cities (Kaunas and Taurage) around the topic of urban food systems and the role municipalities play in supporting these systems. The research results and insights will be combined into a small book/leaflet type of format and presented in four launch sessions. Project structure: (1) research on four sites; (2) sense-making and production of the book/leaflet; (3) presentation of findings and awareness raising.

  6. #T2311_Henrik Kennedy, EUR 1000. Project title: “Communication for moving healthcare forward”. The aim is for the Communications department at Karolinska University Hospital in Sweden to cooperate with Vilnius University Hospital Santaros klinikos to strengthen the learning and accelerate the change of communication within the healthcare eg the university hospital sector. The expected outcome include a stronger and more forward directed communication at both our hospitals and a possibility to contribute to the development of the healthcare in both our countries.

  7. #T2315_Dzina Donauskaite, EUR 1000. Project title: “Uniting forces for media quality and independence: increasing impact of NGOs working in media field”. The project idea is to stimulate growth, impact and international cooperation of NGOs working in the media independence and quality field. As a result of this project Lithuanian journalism center (LJC) seeks to increase its international expertise and learn from the good practice of Fojo Media Institute (Fojo) in Sweden which is specializing in strengthening journalism and media quality in Sweden and around the globe.

  8. #T2318_Monika Neverauskaitė, EUR 1000. Project title: “Paces”, the project aims at making contemporary circus performances that pursue human social development and chase little by little a better world. The project wants to leave a message that nowadays is more than necessary. Love is for everybody and everybody deserves love. A message of hope that wants to unify the different audiences towards a common goal.

  9. #T2304/1_Dalia Mikonytė, EUR 950. A travel grant for “Personal exhibition "Migle". Dalia writes: “In May 2023 I was invited to organize an exhibition at Galleri Frihamnstorget, Stockholm. In this gallery I will present the project "Migle", which is directly related to the city of Stockholm. “Migle” explores topics of departure, alienation, longing and otherness in the context of two countries (Lithuania and Sweden) and over a long term of social and cultural change (2000-2021). Using analog photography, me and Migle are creating photography series - double exposure photography of different time and place (Vilnius and Stockholm). We are also working with photograms”.

  10. #T2312_Martina Smedberg, EUR 690. Project title: “Training of key professional”. The purpose is to explore and exchange knowledge and insights on foreign information manipulation and interference and see how the accumulated insights may best provide training materials and other tools to meet the increasing needs of both countries. Expected outcome includes the exploration of improving/strengthening the training of officials in handling foreign information manipulation and interference.

  11. #T2313_Vaida Ivanauskiene, EUR 2500. Project title: : “We Can”. The project idea is to meet youth in a Swedish school for the deaf and establish cooperation, discuss activities and plan future activities together in the field of youth power, deaf power and school management. A visit to school for deaf, Birgittaskolan, in Sweden is planned, to meet students council of this school and establish mutual cooperation and learn from each other. Discussion on what the responsibilities of youth at school are, how students are involved in the school management and how they benefit from that are planned. The expected outcome: 1) to empower deaf students from Lithuania and Sweden in the filed of self-government and project management; 2) learn from each other about situation of the deaf in both countries; 3) learn more about culture and traditions of the two countries; 4) establish a strong cooperation between schools for future projects and cooperation.
